PGPD Investigates Fatal Collision in Fort Washington

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal collision in Fort Washington.

On January 4, 2014, at about 4:15 am, patrol officers were called to the intersection of Indian Head Highway and Palmer Road for the report of a two car collision.  Upon arrival, patrol officers found one of the drivers suffering from critical injuries.  He died at a hospital a short time later.

The preliminary investigation reveals an Acura TL and Ford Expedition were traveling southbound on Indian Head Highway approaching Palmer Road.  Investigators believe the deceased driver of the Acura struck the rear of the Ford.  The driver of the Acura then lost control of the car, left the roadway and struck a tree. The driver of the Ford was not hurt.

Preliminarily speed appears to be a factor.
