PGPD Investigates Fatal Collision in Oxon Hill

Updated January 22, 2014: We mistakenly identified Ms. Williams with the incorrect first name of Aayoni.  Her correct first name is Kiyomi.  Our apologies.

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal collision in Oxon Hill. The victims are identified as 45-year-old James Monroe Henderson of the 3400 block of Rickey Avenue in Alexandria and 30-year-old Kiyomi Williams of the 600 block of Maskell Street in Alexandria.

On January 20, 2014, at about 2:00am, patrol officers were called to Indian Head Highway and Oxon Hill Road for the report of a single car crash. Henderson and Williams were both pronounced dead on the scene.  A third passenger was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The preliminary investigation reveals Henderson was driving a Chevrolet SUV northbound on Indian Head Highway, approaching Oxon Hill Road.  For reasons which remain unclear, Henderson lost control of the SUV and left the roadway.  The SUV struck a guardrail and light pole before overturning and coming to rest on Oxon Hill Road.

Preliminarily speed appears to be a factor.
