PGPD Makes Quick Arrest in Oxon Hill Murder

The Prince George’s County Police Department made a quick arrest in a homicide in the 800 block of Southern Avenue in Oxon Hill. The suspect is identified as 35-year-old Gary Antonio Jones of the 1300 block of Old Drummer Boy Lane in Fort Washington.  The victim is identified as 32-year-old Cinaway Lateef Morson of the 800 block of Hr Drive in Southeast Washington.

On January 13, 2014, at about 5:50 pm, patrol officers were called to the 800 block of Southern Avenue for the report of a shooting. When they arrived, the patrol officers found Morson inside the Sweet Soul Café and Lounge suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.  He was pronounced dead on scene.  Jones is the owner of the business.

The preliminary investigation reveals the shooting stemmed from an argument between the victim and suspect.  Jones was taken into custody at his home shortly after midnight.  He has admitted his involvement in the shooting. He is charged with second degree murder and gun charges. He is being held at the Department of Corrections.
