PGPD Investigates Fatal Pedestrian Collision in Capitol Heights


The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal pedestrian collision in Capitol Heights. The victim is 55-year-old Rickey Clayton of Rollins Avenue in Capitol Heights.

On December 18, 2015, at about 9:00 am, patrol officers were called to the intersection of Central Avenue at Topeka Avenue for a collision involving a pedestrian. When they arrived, the officers found Clayton suffering from critical injuries. He was taken to a hospital where he died on December 21, 2015.

The preliminary investigation reveals the striking SUV was heading westbound on Central Avenue approaching Topeka Avenue, when for reasons which remain under investigation, it crossed the double yellow center line and struck Clayton. Investigators are working to determine where Clayton was when he was struck.
