PGPD Investigates Sheriff's Deputy-Involved Shooting

The Prince George’s County Police Department is investigating a shooting involving an off-duty Prince George's County Sheriff's deputy.

On July 24, 2016, at about 1:50 am, our patrol officers along with deputies from the Prince George’s County Sheriff’s Office were called to the 10500 block of Campus Way South in Largo for the departmental shooting.

The preliminary investigation revealed the deputy was approached by two men in a parking lot. At least one of the suspects had a gun. Preliminarily, it's believed the suspects intended to rob the deputy. One of the suspects shot at the deputy who then returned fire. The deputy wasn't hurt. It's not known whether the suspects were shot. They ran from the scene and into a car driven by a third suspect.

Anyone with information on this investigation is asked to call 301-772-4925.   Callers wishing to remain anonymous may call Crimes Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477), text “PGPD plus your message” to CRIMES (274637) or go to www.pgcrimesolvers.com and submit a tip online.
